SB09 Aftermarket components and modifications (2016-01-20)

Recently, Freefly has investigated the accidents of multiple ALTAs with unapproved modifications or components installed. These components were found to either be causal, or contributing factors leading to the accident.

ALTA was designed as a closely integrated system, and total system performance is sensitive to changes in ALTA components. Excluding flight batteries, remote control receivers, gimbals, and FPV cameras and transmitters, any parts or modifications added to ALTA that are not explicitly authorized by Freefly can create safety issues, and will void Freefly’s warranty. This includes but is not limited to, propellers, motors, electronic speed controllers (ESCs), power distribution components, flight controllers, telemetry systems, and flight battery connectors.

Except for flight batteries, remote control receivers, gimbals, and FPV cameras and transmitters, do not install components or modify the configuration of the ALTA.

For flight batteries, remote control receivers, gimbals, and FPV cameras and transmitters, always refer to the latest ALTA Aircraft Flight Manual, available on our Software & Manuals page , to determine component requirements or system compatibility.
